Music for Autism

13 May 2011 No Comment

From Friday 10th June we will be holding a short Pentecost Festival at the Abbey – a short season of drama, sculpture, teaching, worship and music with a little bit of animation, dance and mime from New College Swindon who are bringing us a morality play. One highlight of the festival will undoubtedly be our concert in partnership with Music for Autism and the Orchestra of St Johns, conductor John Lubbock. On Wednesday June 22nd at 12 noon there will be a free concert specifically designed for young people with autism in our region and their carers. At 2pm there will be a free concert designed for people with dementia, including many form our own town. If you would like to bring somebody to either of these please contact Sandie Brown in the parish office. At 7.30pm there will then be a gala concert of Tchaikovsky, Quilter and Britten with Neill & Marilyn Archer as soloists. We need to sell 250 tickets at £10 to fund the cost of the professional orchestra for the whole day and to raise money for the ongoing work or Music for Autism. Please buy tickets and get the word out. Tickets, flyers and posters available at the Abbey.
