Holy Week Festival 2010

The third Malmesbury Abbey Holy Week Festival opens on Friday 26th March 2010. As last year, our festival will open with a brand new Stations of the Cross art exhibition created by A-level students at Malmesbury School followed by an hour and a half of live, clean, comedy with a glass of wine. On the Saturday night Springs Dance company bring professional dance to the Abbey with their performance of Bread of Life. Late night music on the Angel stage is back with performances by Tristan Cork, Rosie Archer, the Malmesbury School Frock Band and John Hughes, and throughout the week there will be candlelit monastic prayer, a 24/7 Prayer Room, a fair-trade café in the Abbey and a prayer Labyrinth. On Good Friday the Abbey choir will perform William Byrd’s 4-part mass with readings from St Luke on Easter Day itself the preacher will be the Rt Rev Lee Rayfield, Bishop of Swindon
