Neill writes: Before Easter two tourists came into the Abbey. They walked up to the stewards’ desk and asked ‘do you have a café?’ The steward’s answered no, and then the couple turned around and walked straight out. I want to say they ‘flounced’ out but it wasn’t that dramatic really. You’d want to ask them were they not a little interested in seeing the tomb of the first king of England, Athelstan the Glorious? Did they not want to stand on the site where saints since the 7th century …

Resonate is a new community for 18-29 year olds at Malmesbury Abbey. We will explore what it means to have a life as a Disciple and Pilgrim that resonates with Jesus. We will explore this together through creating a culture of courage and adventure to go to a place with Jesus we have never been before.
If you want to get involved on this journey email me, Lee Barnes, on resonate@malmesburyabbey.com

Malmesbury Abbey is part of the Diocese of Bristol. But how do we fit into the diocese? Here is a short animated film that explains all.
Many people ask what a diocese is and how it all fits together. Some people view “the diocese” purely as the central organisation that provides support services to ministers, parishes and church schools.
But a diocese is also the sum of its parts: our 204 churches in seven deaneries, 67 church schools, chaplaincies across the sectors and the structures that help join them together. And …

From Friday 10th June we will be holding a short Pentecost Festival at the Abbey – a short season of drama, sculpture, teaching, worship and music with a little bit of animation, dance and mime from New College Swindon who are bringing us a morality play. On Wednesday June 22nd at 12 noon there will be a free concert specifically designed for young people with …

FRIDAY EVENING

It was good to see the Riding Lights actors again as I'd bumped into them in the Whole Hog after Basketball on Thursday Night. And really great that some guys from from basketball came to see The Narrow Road. Very strong performance, great cast and some thoughtful theology behind the script. Memorable was the side-by-side depiction of Abraham preparing to sacrifice Isaac as Christ was praying and sweating blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, then crying out 'where's my scapegoat.' Also having Jesus and Barabbas bound back to back as …

20 of us headed out to Symonds Yat in the Wye Valley to sleep on plastic covered mattresses as well as a dead rat in the rafters. After the Landrover (driven by Paul) finally arrived 2 hours after the minibus, we got started. The weekend mainly included eating lots of cake (including some of Corks cupcakes), a long walk and getting very wet in a canoe (ask Sian Edwards about that one). We also did sessions around the theme of ‘dust’ finishing with ‘being covered in the dust of the …

For 4 days at the end of October, Malmesbury Abbey was transformed into a starship! With about 45 children and adults and a cafe for good measure, the Abbey was full of music, games, drama and my personal favorite, alien snot (aka yucky dip). This was Starship Discovery Holiday Club, and it was amazing fun. Roy Windle and The Space Cadets lead the music with such classics as Tiny Little Me. Clair Cork ran the Birdcage Cafe with her waistline busting cupcakes, there where volunteers who ran games, crafts, and …
